From Puglia to your table
Visit some of Puglia’s most beautiful towns overlooking the Adriatic sea. On this tour you will visit the ancient city of Lecce with its baroque architecture and the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Lupiae.
The next stop will be Otranto, an ancient city originally an outpost of the Byzantine Empire on Apulian soil, and a cultural and artistic center of the entire region. Otranto is built on bare rocks overlooking the Adriatic sea, walking around you have gorgeous views of the sea. You will also visit one of the most beautiful mosaic floors, which the town is known for.
First stop today is to the town of Gallipoli, an enchanting coastal town rich in history because of its Greek roots and its wonderful Baroque and Renaissance buildings. We will walk through the alleys of the old town, (which are connected to the mainland by a seventeenth-century bridge), and admire extravagant courts and palazzi. Next we will tour the splendid cathedral dedicated to Santa Agata, which has over 80 paintings by some of the most talented artists of the time.
Next we will visit the well known traditional underground olive oil mills. Here you will get to see the olive oil process first hand. After this you will have a walking tour in Nardò, ending with a wine tasting at one of the best wineries of Salento, being able to taste five different Pugliese wines.
